Dover, DE, USA (September 8, 2015) – Next week, a Live Design Challenge descends on Olympia, London at the 2015 Packaging Innovations Show (September 16th-17th). The challenge theme involves three design groups battling it out on stage in a timed competition to create a rugby carton for the impending Rugby World Cup. Taking center stage is the revolutionary 3D packaging and design software, IC3D Suite. A 2014 recipient of the InterTech™ Technology Award, IC3D Suite provides users the ability to easily create 3D models, apply artwork in real-time and ultimately visualize how a final package will appear before reaching production.

During the competition the audience will participate as well. They’ll drive the carton’s look by having designers change colours, size, text and overall look of the design at the last minute. The final designs are limitless as IC3D Suite shows special effects like metallic foils accurately on screen, and a direct link to Adobe Illustrator ensures seamless communication of artwork files onto models.

Once a winner is selected, show attendees can see further capabilities of IC3D Suite in the ORIS Packaging Innovations booth (F2). While a carton is selected for the competition, IC3D caters to an extensive range of packaging types from flexible films to bottles, non-cylindrical shapes and more. Once a package design is completed, primary and secondary packaging can then be placed onto shelves, into a POS or even animated. Everything created in IC3D Suite can then be shared with customers or team members via hi-res images, 3D PDFS, movie files and even augmented reality.
